Member Associations 2021-2022

ASFA includes Member Associations that deliver their own social and academic events and initiatives. ASFA contributes to the campus community by supporting its Member Associations in their administration, governance, and elections so that Member Associations can enrich student life by directly reaching our membership. ASFA provides core funding for its Member Associations as well as the provisioning of a Special Projects Fund that is open to its membership and Member Associations.

The Economics Student Society (ESS) is a member association of the Arts and Science Federation of Associations (ASFA) run by Concordia Economics undergraduate students. Students of History at Concordia (SHAC)

Information

Students of History At Concordia (SHAC) represents all Concordia students registered in the Bachelors of History or in a history class.  

Students of History At Concordia (better known as SHAC) is a student organization representing all students registered in a history class at Concordia. SHAC was founded in 1978, and was created with the goal of protecting and advancing the interests of history students.

We are committed to enhancing the academic and social experience of those in our department. We put on social events—including movie nights, pub nights and coffee hours—and we host events with speakers from the field of history, among other things. We even have an undergraduate student journal—Historiae—which is published annually, that serves to bring together the best undergraduate history essays and give students the chance to publish their work

Their Facebook group is a space for discussion, questions, and commentary relevant to the students of History. Feel free to share things such as textbooks for sale, internship/job opportunities, election information, workshops, questions, and anything else other students may be interested in!

Womens Studies Student Association (WSSA)

Information

WSSA members are active representatives of Concordia University’s Women’s Studies and Sexuality Studies programs. WSSA supports interdisciplinary scholarship, local activism and creative endeavours that highlight social injustices pertinent to gender, sexuality, location, class, race and ability. Its mandate includes maintaining an equality model in its academic environment, engaging its constituency in campus life, and working with local groups (both student and otherwise).

Visit their office on the 4th floor of the PR Annex (2100 Mackay) in room 401. Note that their office is up 4 flights of stairs, and if this poses a barrier to anybody, they can contact the WSSA to meet at an alternative location.
