ASFA election staff callout: MA CEO, DEO and Polling Clerks needed

Do you want to get more involved with ASFA? Good news: we are currently hiring multiple Member Association (MA) Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs)

The MA CEOs work with the Elections Coordinator to ensure that each MA’s by-election campaigns are following ASFA’s election regulations. Each CEO is responsible for overseeing 1 to 3 MAs. 

Basic skills required:

  • Must be organized and responsible;
  • Proper communication skills;
  • Ability to multitask;
  • Considerable logistical skills;
  • Knowledge of ASFA’s bylaws and regulations is an asset.

The following are not eligible for these positions:

  • Current members of the ASFA Executive;
  • Current members of the executive body of an ASFA Member Association;
  • Current members of the CSU Council of Representatives;
  • Current members of the CSU executive;
  • A candidate currently running for a position on a Member Association, ASFA Executive, CSU Council of Representatives or CSU executive;
  • An incoming member of the ASFA Executive, CSU executive, CSU Council of Representatives or the executive body of an ASFA Member Association;
  • Member of the Member Association hiring the CEO;
  • The Council Chairperson;
  • The Council Minute Keeper ; or
  • Current members of the Judicial Committee.

Do you want to get more involved with ASFA? Good news: we are currently hiring two (2) Deputy Electoral Officers (DEOs) to assist in the upcoming by-elections! 

DEOs work directly with ASFA’s CEO and Elections Coordinator. They may assist the CEO in the recruiting, training and supervising Polling Clerks and assist the CEO and Elections Coordinator with election tasks. They will also sit on the election committee. 

Basic skills required:

  • Must be organized and responsible;
  • Must be punctual and reliable;
  • Proper communication skills;
  • Ability to multitask and work independently at times;
  • Considerable logistical skills;
  • Knowledge of ASFA’s bylaws and regulations is an asset.

The following are not eligible for these positions:

  • Current members of the ASFA Executive;
  • Current members of the executive body of an ASFA Member Association;
  • Current members of the CSU Council of Representatives;
  • Current members of the CSU executive;
  • A candidate currently running for a position on a Member Association, ASFA Executive, CSU Council of Representatives or CSU executive;

Polling Clerks are responsible for assisting voters in casting their votes in accordance with the Arts and Science Federation of Associations’ (ASFA) By-Laws. They will be working at the polling sites during the elections periods and will help voters answer any questions about the electoral process. 

Basic skills required:

  • Must be organized and responsible;
  • Must be punctual and reliable;
  • Proper communication skills;
  • Ability to multitask and work independently at times;
  • Considerable logistical skills;
  • Knowledge of ASFA’s bylaws and regulations is an asset.
